Summer Love

As a teacher, I am the last one to admit that summer is almost over. In fact, when people start talking about school starting, I will actually ask them to stop talking about it. I know it comes off as rude, but for those of you who only get 2 weeks of vacation, can you imagine if someone constantly reminded you that your vacation was about to end? Geez people!! Let me have my last few days here! So, in all honesty, it is just around the corner. It's hard to believe because I remember the last day of school like it was yesterday and not 2 months ago. We sat in my bosses office looking at awkwardfamilyphotos.com (if you haven't yet, go there now. Ok, maybe after you read this, but it's seriously the best thing ever.) while we were waiting on people to finish their check off lists. Now here I am, with a mere 5 days left until I have to start all over again at a new school with a new job. Scary! The scariest part: I still don't know what I'm teaching. That's right, I am not sure what grade or subject I'm teaching. All I know is that I have a job - thank God.

So in the spirit of first days of school everywhere, here is what I did this summer:

1. Completed 9 more hours toward my Masters in Counseling. I have 4 more loooong semesters, but I am about halfway there!
2. On those same lines, I wrote 127 pages worth of assignments this summer. That is 41 assignments. See #1, 4 more semesters of this!!
3. Justin and I traveled to Roatan, Honduras. A few things we did there included shark diving, night diving, and fighting sand fleas.
4. I ate my weight in ice cream. Guess buying an ice cream maker wasn't a good idea.
5. I read 11 books this summer and am reading 3 right now. Some for fun, some for the anti-fun: school.
6. We adopted Shiner! This was by far my favorite part of the summer. We got him on the night of the last day of school, so it is definitely a summer present!
7. Oh yeah, we completely remodeled our kitchen. See many previous posts.
8. I started blogging, and I really haven't been doing a good job. Nothing much happened at the end of July, though.
9. We went to Granbury for the 4th of July - of course!
10. I changed, or am changing, jobs. That totally counts because I have been trying to get things together all summer.

So, my list isn't that productive, but all in all, I think it was a great summer. Time to put on the big girl panties and face reality. I am so excited about my new job, but I will miss my old (I mean old!!) co-workers and friends. I'm sure that God has big plans for this year, though. Hope you all got to enjoy something this summer. If not, just look at my list and think about going to the beach!

  2. I was thinking of changing your blog's name to "Lazy Ray"...heh,heh! Not really...if you are out soaking up summer than by all means stay away from the electronic ouija board!! Mr. Ronnie and I went to Corpus, Port Aransas and Aransas Pass...had a great time and laughed at the sign "Chocolate Swale"...it just means man-made or natural DITCH...helped pick out a wedding dress and went to a wild graduation party...but all without YOU...must see you next week...but not Monday...love you, Granbury Girl!
